Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

The amplifier and ignition coil are mounted on a light alloy base which provides cooling and the amplifier ground. Silicone grease is used between the amplifier and base to improve heat transfer and prevent amplifier damage. When replacing amplifier, coat amplifier mounting surface with specified silicone grease and ensure that mounting lugs of base are free from corrosion and properly secured to vehicle. Failure to use silicone grease and ensure proper ground contact will result in component failure.
