Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

The TPS is a variable resistor which is activated by throttle shaft movement. It is mounted on the throttle body and senses angle of throttle blade opening. A voltage signal is produced by the sensor which varies with this angle. This signal is transmitted to the SMEC where it is used to adjust air/fuel ratio during acceleration, deceleration, idle, and wide open throttle.
