Control Switch/Timer Relay Module Test
- Remove switch assembly, leaving harness connected. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, backprobe connector and check voltage at terminals No. 1, 2 and 4. Terminals No. 2 and 4 should have battery voltage. Terminal No. 1 should have zero volts. If readings are not as specified, go to next step. If readings are as specified, go to step 3).
- If voltage does not exist at terminals No. 2 and 4, check for wiring problems, burned-out fusible links and inoperative circuit breaker. If terminal No. 1 reads more than zero volts, turn ignition off and recheck terminal. If voltage reading is still more than zero, replace module.
- Turn defogger on. Check for voltage at terminal No. 1. Voltage should read battery voltage for about 10 minutes and then drop to zero. Indicator light should glow and remain on for about 10 minutes when defogger is turned on. If indicator light fails to glow or voltage reading is not as specified, replace module.
