Test 22A - Testing Compass/Mini-Trip Module For No Response

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect compass/mini-trip module connector. Connector is located behind overhead console. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Disconnect DRB-II. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance at Violet/Brown wire between terminals No. 1 at CCD bus diagnostic connector and No. 9 at compass/mini-trip module connector.
  2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance at White/Black wire between terminals No. 6 at CCD bus diagnostic connector and No. 11 at compass/mini-trip module connector.
  3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect DRB-II. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Probe terminal No. 7 (Tan wire) at compass/mini-trip module connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace compass/temperature module. Perform VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove circuit breaker No. 25 from fuse block. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of circuit breaker. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 7). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode.
  5. Probe output terminal (in fuse block) from circuit breaker No. 25. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan wire and replace circuit breaker No. 25. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect compass/mini-trip module connector.
  6. Probe output terminal (in fuse block) from circuit breaker No. 25. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace compass/mini-trip module and circuit breaker No. 25. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace circuit breaker No. 25. Perform VERIFICATION TEST .
  7. If resistance is less than 5 ohms in step 4), probe input terminal (in fuse block) to circuit breaker No. 25. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in wire between fuse block and compass/mini-trip module connector. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in Black/White wire to fuse block. Perform VERIFICATION TEST .
