Test 10A - Short To Ground On Bus
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position before disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using DRB-II, indicate whether a module is present. Disconnect Electronic Automatic Transaxle (EATX) controller connector. Connector is located on firewall on right side of engine compartment. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO GROUND, replace EATX controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If DRB-II displays SHORT TO GROUND, disconnect Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC) connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO GROUND, replace SBEC. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If DRB-II displays SHORT TO GROUND, disconnect body controller Blue connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO GROUND, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST .
- If DRB-II displays SHORT TO GROUND, disconnect compass/mini-trip module connector (if equipped). Connector is located in overhead console. Check connector condition and clean or repair connector as necessary. If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO GROUND, replace compass/mini-trip module. Perform VERIFICATION TEST .
- If DRB-II displays SHORT TO GROUND, disconnect DRB-II. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between terminal No. 1 (Violet/Brown wire) of CCD bus diagnostic connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/Brown wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST .
