Fuel Pump Module: Installation

NOTE: The fuel pump module has a locator notch that has to fit into the fuel tank to correctly align the to parts. See Figure. Align the marks to correctly position the pump module.
  1. With a new gasket, insert the module straight into the tank to set float on bottom. Align marks on module and tank.
  2. Seat module to tank by pushing the top down. Ensure the gasket does not slip over the outside or inside edge of the fuel tank lip. While holding module in seated position, place locknut over pump module and tighten locknut. Tighten locknut to 61 N.m (45 ft. lbs). Do not over tighten the fuel pump locknut.
  3. Install fuel tubes over fuel return and supply nipples on the module. Attach electrical connector to fuel pump module.
  4. Use DRB scan tool to pressurize fuel system. Check for leaks. Install access cover and gasket. Tighten fasteners. Install trunk liner. Connect negative cable to battery.
