Code A005, Front Enable Relay Open, Contacts Open, Fuse Open

If the ignition switch is in the RUN position and the anti-lock brake controller does not detect any faults, the front enable relay will be closed. This grounds the front enable relay coil and energizes the relay. As the contacts close, voltage is applied from fusible element "L" to the Left and Right Front Solenoid. If this does not happen, the anti-lock brake controller will sense voltage at terminals 1D1, 1C3, 1C6 and 1C9. To set Code A005, the following conditions must occur.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. If voltage is available at front enable relay but not at terminal 1D13, check for open in circuit No. 972.
  2. If code A007 is also set, solenoids are not getting voltage. Inspect connector C161.
  3. Anti-lock brake controller, circuit No. 250 and circuit No. 972 are good if test light energizes. Check front enable relay or connector.
  4. Determines if Code A005 is a hard code or intermittent failure.
  5. Voltage at terminal 1D13 indicates all external circuits are good. Indicates a faulty controller.
  6. If voltage is available at front enable relay but not at terminal 1D13, open in circuit No. 972 is indicated.
