Code 166 - Adjuster Assembly Motor Circuit Shorted To Battery (With TCS): Notes
Identifies an adjuster assembly motor circuit that is shorted to battery or an adjuster assembly motor that has low or no resistance. Malfunction will not allow adjuster assembly motor to be controlled at the commanded current rate or will cause the adjuster assembly motor to turn in the opposite direction, or not at all.
Code can set only when TCS motor is commanded off. A malfunction exists if EBTCM detects an out of range voltage on either TCS motor circuits, indicating a circuit shorted to battery or TCS motor is shorted. When code is stored, TCS is disabled, TCS and BRAKE warning lights are illuminated.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. Use only 10-megohm (minimum) DVOM for all voltage and resistance tests. For identification of circuits and terminals referenced in charts and text, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Checks for short to voltage in adjuster assembly motor high circuit.
- Checks for short to voltage in adjuster assembly motor low circuit.
- Checks for short between high and low motor circuits.
- Checks for adjuster assembly motor that is internally shorted.
- Ensures malfunction was not due to physical damage of circuit.
