Remove MALL PGM (10-amp) fuse from instrument panel fuse block. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Feature customization mode is now entered. Seat belt indicator and chime will activate 2-4 times to indicate type of BCM used in vehicle. Ensure installed BCM is compatible with features available on vehicle. Replace BCM if necessary.
- To enter BCM diagnostic mode, perform the following: Turn ignition switch to OFF, then to ACC position within one second. To confirm BCM has entered diagnostic mode, ensure all vehicle doors are closed. Open, then close any door. Fasten, then release driver's seat belt. A chime should sound when door is opened and when driver's seat belt is fastened. If chime is not heard when these functions are performed, repeat steps 1) and 2). If BCM does not enter diagnostic mode after a second attempt, go to BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
- When BCM enters diagnostic mode, seat belt indicator will flash and chime will sound to indicate any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If more than one DTC exists, codes will be flashed in sequence, with a 2-second pause between codes. DTCs will repeat 3 times.
- Record any existing DTCs, then perform appropriate test procedure. See BCM DTC DEFINITIONS . After DTC has been repaired, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DTCS .
- After DTCs have been displayed, BCM will enter input/output test. See INPUT/OUTPUT DIAGNOSTICS . To exit diagnostic mode, see EXITING DIAGNOSTICS .
