Diagnostics Mode

  1. Ensure vehicle is in feature customization mode. See FEATURE CUSTOMIZATION MODE  under PROGRAMMING. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, then to ACC position within one second.
  2. To confirm Body Control Module (BCM) has entered diagnostic mode, ensure all vehicle doors are closed. Open, then close any door. Fasten, then release driver's seat belt. A chime should sound when door is opened and when driver's seat belt is fastened. If chime is not heard when these functions are performed, turn ignition switch to OFF position, then return to step  1 . If BCM does not enter diagnostic mode after a second attempt, go to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) SYSTEM TEST  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. When BCM enters diagnostic mode, seat belt indicator will flash and chime will sound to indicate any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). If more than one DTC exists, codes will be flashed in sequence, with a 2-second pause between codes. DTCs will repeat 3 times.
  4. Record any existing DTCs, then perform appropriate test procedure. See BCM DTC DEFINITIONS  table. After BCM DTC has been repaired, erase DTC. To clear BCM DTCs, press and hold any door unlock switch for 4 seconds.
  5. After DTCs have been displayed, BCM will enter input/output test. See INPUT/OUTPUT DIAGNOSTICS  . To exit diagnostic mode, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reinstall MALL PGM fuse, then turn ignition switch to ON position.
