Password Learn Procedure

NOTE: If instrument cluster is replaced on vehicles with Passlock(tm) system, vehicle may start and stall (long tamper mode). If this occurs, system must go through a long tamper mode cycle to relearn password.
  1. Attempt to start vehicle. If vehicle does not run, go to next step. If vehicle runs, ensure THEFT SYSTEM indicator turns off after about 10 seconds. If THEFT SYSTEM indicator operates as specified, go to next step. If THEFT SYSTEM indicator does not operate as specified, locate and repair problem in anti-theft system. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - CAVALIER & SUNFIRE article.
  2. Ensure ANTI-THEFT indicator is flashing. Leave ignition switch in RUN position until indicator turns solid (about 10 minutes). Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Start vehicle and ensure system is operating properly.
