Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important: 

  1. Position the sunroof to the closed position.
  2. Remove the sunroof module from the vehicle. Refer to Power Sunroof Module Replacement .
  3. Before removing the PES switch from the sunroof module, the J 41718  sunroof timing pins must be installed to lock the cable/cam mechanism into position.

    Important:  The cable mechanisms and/or the cam mechanisms, on both sides of the glass, contain a set of timing holes. These holes are aligned in the window CLOSED position. Remove the left and right side front sunroof glass panel screws.

  4. Align the timing holes. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to push the cable mechanism and/or the cam mechanism forward or rearward.

    Install the J 41718  sunroof timing pins into the left and right sunroof glass panel screw holes.

  5. If you remove the PES switch, install the position lock pin, or install two wires, such as the ends of a paper clip, to the PES switch.
  6. Remove the sunroof accouter. Refer to Sunroof Actuator Replacement .

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the PES switch (3).
  8. Remove the PES switch screw (2) from the switch.
  9. Hold down on both drive cables, and lift straight up to remove the PES switch from the sunroof module.
