Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Buick Regal and 2002 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the spindle rod (5) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the spindle rod (5) to the knuckle (8).
  3. NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  4. Install the spindle rod to knuckle bolt (4) and nut. Tighten the nut to 150 N.m (110 ft lbs).
  5. Install the spindle rod to the rear suspension support.
  6. Install the bolt (1) and nut to the rear suspension support. Tighten the bolt to 140 N.m (103 ft lbs).
  7. Install the rear suspension support.
  8. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Adjust the wheel toe angle. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications in SPECIFICATIONS .
