Side Crash Sensor: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mazda 3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Disconnecting side air bag crash sensor connector or removing sensor with ignition switch in ON position can cause side air bag to deploy. Always disable air bag system prior to disconnecting or removing crash sensor.
CAUTION: Improper side crash sensor code over-write possible. Air bag deployment malfunction may result. Ensure ignition switch is turned to ON position without turning to LOCK or START position for a minimum of 5 seconds after new side crash sensor is installed. Failure to follow this procedure will cancel sensor code over-write and require sensor to be replaced again.
