Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With an assistant, install the lift gate to the vehicle.
  2. Fig 1: Installing Liftgate

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  3. Install the bolts that retain the lift gate to the body.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  4. Install the lift gate struts. Refer to Strut Replacement - Liftgate .
  5. Connect the washer fluid hose.
  6. Connect the electrical connectors, as needed.
  7. Install the roof rear header garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR UPPER (TAHOE/YUKON/ESCALADE/SUBURBAN) or GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR UPPER (AVALANCHE/ESCALADE EXT) .
