Removal & Installation: Compressor: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Aztek and 2002 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the compressor. See Figure . Install the compressor mounting bolts. Tighten to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Remove cap or tape from the discharge hose. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant hoses and the A/C refrigerant component.
  3. NOTE: Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.
  4. Install a new sealing washer to the discharge hose. Connect the discharge hose to the compressor. Install the discharge hose to compressor nut. See Figure . Tighten to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Remove cap or tape from the suction hose. Install a new sealing washer to the suction hose.
  6. Connect the suction hose to the compressor. Install the suction hose to compressor nut. Tighten to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Connect the electrical connector to the compressor. Connect the engine harness electrical connector. See Figure .
  8. Install the air baffle. Install the air baffle bolts. See Figure . Tighten to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  9. Release the drive belt tensioner. Install the drive belt on to the compressor pulley. See Figure . Install the right side engine splash shield. Lower the vehicle. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING.
