Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Lubricate the inner diameter of the caliper pin boot (4) and install to the caliper mounting bracket (3).
  2. Lubricate the outer diameter of the caliper pins (5) and install to the caliper mounting bracket (3).

  4. Install the disc brake pad retainers to the disc brake caliper bracket.
  5. Install the disc brake pads to the disc brake caliper bracket.
  6. Install the disc brake caliper to the mounting bracket.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  8. Install the disc brake caliper bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the disc brake caliper bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

  9. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Apply and release the brake pedal (3/4 stroke) as many times as necessary in order to obtain a firm brake pedal.
  12. Fill the master cylinder to the proper level. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling in Hydraulic Brakes.
