10 Minute Learn Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Savana, 2002 Chevrolet Chevy Express, 2001 GMC Savana, and 2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: This procedure requires a Tech 2 Scan tool and a techline terminal with current Service Programming System (SPS) software.
  1. Connect Tech 2 scan tool to vehicle.
  2. Select REQUEST INFORMATION under SERVICE PROGRAMMING menu.
  3. Disconnect Tech 2 from vehicle and connect to a techline terminal.
  4. On techline terminal, select THEFT MODULE RE-LEARN under SERVICE PROGRAMMING menu.
  5. Disconnect Tech 2 from techline terminal and connect to vehicle.
  6. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
  7. Select VTD RE-LEARN under SERVICE PROGRAMMING menu.
  8. Attempt to start engine, then release key to RUN position, vehicle will not start.
  9. Observe SECURITY indicator. After approximately 10 minutes indicator will turn OFF. Vehicle is now ready to relearn Passlock(tm) sensor data code and/or password on next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK position.
  10. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, and wait 5 seconds.
  11. Start engine. Vehicle has now learned the password.
  12. Using Tech 2 scan tool, clear any DTCs.
