Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Buick Regal and 2002 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Connect the electrical connector to the driver information center (DIC), if equipped.
  2. Align the retaining clips and the locating pins on the steering column filler to the slots in the I/P.

  4. Press the steering column filler in order to lock in the retainers.
    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  5. Install the bolts to the bottom of the steering column filler. Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  6. Install the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left .
