Section 112 (Heater Systems): Description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Savana Special, 2002 GMC Savana Camper Special, 2002 GMC Savana, 2002 Chevrolet RV Cutaway, and 2002 Chevrolet Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: References to HVAC or rear HVAC are manufacturers terms for the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system. This term is also used for non air conditioned vehicles to describe the system in general.

HVAC system blends heated air with cooler outside air to obtain desired temperature. Major components of the system are blower motor (front and rear), air inlet assembly, heater air distributor assembly, heater cores and HVAC control panels.

Temperature control door is controlled by an electric actuator motor.

Three HVAC systems are available for this vehicle. Front HVAC system, front HVAC system with auxiliary heater, and front HVAC system with auxiliary HVAC system. This article will address only the heater systems.

Vacuum actuators control mode valves to regulate flow of air through heater unit.

The auxiliary heater unit (if equipped) operates independently from main HVAC system. The auxiliary blower switch is independent of main system control. Rear blower motor may be operated even when main system is off. A/C operation will not be available and only recirculation of rear air is available.
