Powertrain Control Module: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire and 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the new PCM from the packaging and check the service number to verify the number is the same number, or an updated number, as the faulty PCM.
  2. Push the PCM into the PCM bracket. The retaining tab will lock in place.
  3. Install the PCM harness connectors and lock down the release levers.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Program the PCM. See PROGRAMMING
