Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
DO NOT perform this procedure unless instructed by an Evaporative Emission (EVAP) diagnostic procedure.
NOTE:
Use EVAP Pressure/Purge Diagnostic Station (J-41413) in order to provide a clean, dry, low pressure gas source.
- Turn ignition off. Remove EVAP canister purge solenoid. See EVAP CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID under MOTORS, RELAYS & SOLENOIDS. Lightly tap the EVAP canister purge solenoid on a clean, hard surface. Inspect for carbon particles exiting either of the vacuum ports. If no carbon particles are found, reinstall EVAP canister purge solenoid and perform CLEANING PROCEDURE .
- If carbon particles are found during the inspection procedure, replace EVAP canister purge solenoid and perform CLEANING PROCEDURE . If you were instructed to replace the EVAP canister purge solenoid, and no carbon particles are found, return to the EVAP diagnostic procedure. DO NOT perform the CLEANING PROCEDURE .
