Radio Setup

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, 2001 Pontiac Sunfire, and 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Using scan tool, complete following procedure:

  1. At MAIN MENU screen, select DIAGNOSTICS.
  2. At VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION screen, select following options:
    • (1) 2001 or (2) 2002 (Model Year)
    • Passenger car.
  3. At SYSTEM SELECTION MENU screen, select BODY.
  4. At VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION screen, select "J" (platform type).
  5. At BODY screen, select RADIO.
  6. At RADIO screen, select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS.
  7. At SPECIAL FUNCTIONS screen, select RADIO SETUP.
  8. At RADIO SETUP screen, press ENTER (following test will set up a new or existing radio).
  9. Select one of the following Regular Production Options (RPO) using arrow keys and press ENTER:
    • UM6 (Pontiac only)
    • UM7
    • U1C
    • UPO
    • U1P + UW6
    • U1Q + UW6
    • U1P + U85
    • U1Q + U85
  10. Select on of the following options:
    • USA/Canada
    • Export
  11. Press ENTER key.
  12. Verify that scan tool displays TEST IN PROGRESS.
  13. Verify that scan tool displays TEST COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY.
  14. Press EXIT on scan tool.
  15. NOTE: Radio setup will configure following systems:
    • LEAR VIN
    • Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
    • Class 2 radio messages
    • Country code
    • Chime level
    • Chime volume
    • 12/24 hour clock

    Without learning VIN, radio will display a locked message (LOC). Radio setup procedure will also clear the following messages:

    • CAL
    • CAL ERR
    • CALIBRATE

  16. Cycle ignition switch.
