Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. With an assistant, install the midgate (3) to the vehicle.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. With an assistant supporting the midgate, install the nuts (2) retaining the midgate to the floor.

    Tighten:  Tighten the midgate hinge to body nuts to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).

  4. Connect the midgate electrical connector (1).

  6. Remove the pins (2) from the midgate hinge (1) supporting the midgate.
  7. Open the midgate.

  9. Press the midgate sliding hinge filler panel retainers (1) down to release the sliding panel.
  10. Close the midgate.
  11. Install the rear floor trim panel. Refer to Trim Cover Replacement - Rear Floor Trim Panel in Interior Trim.
  12. Raise the midgate window.
  13. Inspect for proper fit and operation of the midgate and midgate window.
