Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the guide pin bushing in the brake caliper mounting bracket.

  3. Install the brake caliper guide pins.

  5. Apply high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake caliper guide pins. DO NOT apply to the brake caliper hardware or the retaining clips.

  7. Install the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  8. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  9. Install the brake caliper mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the disc brake caliper mounting bracket bolts to 200 N.m (148 lb ft).

  11. Install the brake pad retaining clips on the brake caliper mounting bracket.

  13. Install the brake pads to the brake caliper mounting bracket.

  15. Install the brake pad retaining clip to the brake caliper.

  17. Install the brake caliper assembly. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear .
  18. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  19. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  20. CAUTION: Do not move the vehicle until a firm brake pedal is obtained. Failure to obtain a firm pedal before moving vehicle may result in personal injury.
  21. Pump the brake pedal slowly and firmly in order to seat the brake pads.
