Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the power steering pump and reposition. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (3.4L) or Power Steering Pump Replacement (3.8L) in Power Steering System.
  2. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
  3. Remove the CMP sensor bolt.
  4. Remove the CMP sensor.
  5. Inspect the sensor O-ring for wear, cracks, or leakage if the sensor is not being replaced.
