Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. If replacing the HVAC module assembly (8), transfer the components from the old HVAC module assembly as necessary.
  2. Install the HVAC module assembly (8).
  3. Connect all of the electrical connectors to the HVAC module assembly.

  5. Connect the heater hoses to the heater core.
  6. Connect the evaporator tube (4) to the evaporator (1).
  7. Install the accumulator (6) to the evaporator (1).
  8. NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  9. Tighten the accumulator retaining nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).

  10. Install the I/P carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  11. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  12. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A  . See Special Tools and Equipment .
  13. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (LL8) or Draining and Filling Cooling System (LM4) in Engine Cooling.
