Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
  2. Remove the drive belt from the generator. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L26) or Drive Belt Replacement (L32) in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  3. Remove the generator rear brace. Refer to Generator Brace Replacement (L26)  or Generator Brace Replacement (L32) .
  4. Remove the bolts (1, 3) and the stud (2) from the generator.

  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the generator.
  7. Position aside the protective boot from the generator output BAT terminal for access.
  8. Remove the generator output BAT terminal nut and remove the positive battery lead from the generator.
  9. Remove the generator.
