Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2004 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    CAUTION: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Before applying power to the front end sensor make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 1 .
  2. Remove the radiator upper air baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle and Deflector Replacement - Upper in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the orange connector position assurance (CPA) (2) from the yellow sensor harness connector (3).
  4. Disconnect the harness connector from the sensor (1).

  6. Remove the sensor bolts (1).
  7. Remove the sensor (2) from the upper radiator core support (3).
