Installation Procedure
- If the fuel tank was replaced, perform the following:
- Install the fuel pump module. Refer to Fuel Pump Module Replacement .
- Install the EVAP canister. Refer to Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Replacement .
- Install and connect the fuel tank fuel feed pipe (4). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
- Install and connect the fuel tank fill EVAP pipe (2). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
- Remove the caps or plugs from the fuel feed and EVAP lines.
- Partially raise the fuel tank.
- Connect the EVAP canister vent solenoid electrical connector can be disconnected.
- Position the fuel tank supports (1).NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
- Install the fuel tank strap/support bolts (2).
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
- Install the fuel tank support bolts (3).
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
- Remove the adjustable jack from under the fuel tank.
- Connect the fuel feed pipe quick connect fitting (2). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
- Connect the EVAP pipe quick connect fitting (1). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
- Install the differential. Refer to Differential Replacement .
- Install the fuel fill pipe. Refer to Filler Tube Replacement .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the fuel tank pressure sensor electrical connector (5).
- Connect the fuel sending unit electrical connector (3).
- Install the fuel sending unit access cover.
- Install the access cover bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - Rear .
- Refill the fuel tank.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
- Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
- Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
- Inspect for fuel leaks.
