Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect connector X1 from the powertrain control module (PCM) terminal or engine control module (ECM). Disconnect connector X1 from the electronic brake control module (EBCM).
- Test for less than 5 ohms on the engine speed signal circuit, terminal 11 of the EBCM and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 11 for a open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- Test for infinite resistance between the engine speed signal circuit terminal 11 of the EBCM and ground.
- If not the specified value, test the engine speed signal circuit terminal 11 for a short to ground.
- Ignition ON, test for 2 volts on the engine speed signal circuit terminal 11 of the EBCM
- If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 11 for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
