Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac Torrent and 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the video display.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohms between the video display ground circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, test for B+ between the voltage supply circuit terminal 7 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ fuse is open, replace the video display.
- Radio ON, test for B+ between the video display enable circuit terminal 8 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the enable circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Ignition ON, with a DMM, verify there is 100 to 300 Hz on the video mode signal circuit terminal 10.
- If not within the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Verify there is 100 to 300 Hz on the video bright signal circuit terminal 9.
- If not within the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the radio.
- Test for good continuity between the DVD video signal circuit terminal 7 at the radio X3 harness connector and terminal 1 at the video display harness connector.
- If good continuity is not present, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- Test for good continuity between the DVD video signal circuit terminal 15 at the radio X3 harness connector and terminal 2 at the video display harness connector.
- If good continuity is not present, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the video display.
