C0196 00
- Visually inspect the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer for proper and secure mounting.
- If the sensor is improperly secured, remove and properly install the sensor.
- Ignition OFF for 30 seconds, disconnect the harness connector at the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer.
- Ignition OFF for 30 seconds, test for less than 15 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, remove the EBCM connector and test for less than the specified value between the low reference terminal 22 and ground terminal 16 of the EBCM.
- If EBCM measures less than the specified value, test the yaw rate sensor low reference return circuit terminal 6 and the EBCM connector ground circuits terminal 16 and 45 for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the EBCM measures greater than the specified value, test or replace the EBCM.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
- Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the following signal circuits and ground:
- Yaw rate signal terminal 3
- Lateral accelerometer signal terminal 2
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Test for less than infinite resistance between the following signal circuits and ground:
- Yaw rate signal terminal 3
- Lateral accelerometer signal terminal 2
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the following signal circuit terminals:
- Terminal 3 at the sensor harness connector and terminal 37 at the EBCM harness connector
- Terminal 2 at the sensor harness connector and terminal 8 at the EBCM harness connector
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer. After replacement and programming, operate the vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC and verify DTC C0196 00 does not set.
- If the DTC sets, replace the EBCM.
C0196 28
- Verify DTC C0196 00 is not set.
- If DTC C0196 00 is set, refer to the above diagnostic procedure for C0196 00 before proceeding.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer.
- Test for 118k ohms between the yaw rate diagnostic signal circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer. After replacement and programming, operate the vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC and verify DTC C0196 28 does not set.
- If the DTC sets, replace the EBCM.
