WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
- This procedure requires two keys to complete the learn. These keys may be existing vehicle keys or new keys.
- The security indicator may illuminate to indicate the immobilizer system is in learn mode. The indicator should turn off when both keys have been learned.
To program a replacement theft deterrent module (TDM), perform the following procedure:
- Connect a scan tool to the vehicle in the pass-thru arrangement.
- Ensure that all power consuming devices are turned OFF on the vehicle.
- On the Techline Terminal, select Service Programming System and follow the Techline Terminal on-screen instructions, using the Pass-Thru method. Ensure the correct programming selection is chosen based on component being replaced or programmed. For this procedure, go to the VTD Vehicle Theft Deterrent Learn (Relearn & Link) menu and choose the ECM to VTD Link Procedure selection.
- At this point the scan tool must remain connected for the duration of the 10-minute relearn procedure.
- Observe the scan tool. After approximately 10 minutes the scan tool will display "Programming Successful, Turn OFF Ignition".
- Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key.
- Within 10 seconds of turning OFF the ignition, turn ON the ignition with a second master key.
- Perform the Replacing Keys procedure.
- With a scan tool, clear any DTCs.
