Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac G8. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE: The new SIR coil assembly will be centered. Improper alignment of the SIR coil assembly may damage the unit, causing an inflatable restraint malfunction.
    IMPORTANT: If the existing SIR coil assembly is to be reinstalled, the SIR coil assembly must be centered.
  1. Install the SIR coil assembly.

  3. Connect the SIR coil assembly connector (1).

  5. Install the SIR coil assembly to steering column retaining screws (1).
  6. Install the wipers/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .
  7. Install the headlamp/turn signal switch from the SIR coil module assembly. Refer to Turn Signal Switch Replacement .
  8. Install steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement .
  9. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  10. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module to the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement .
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  12. Calibrate the steering angle sensor. Refer to Steering Angle Sensor Centering .
