Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: Before disconnecting the harness connector at the VDAAW module, ensure that the ignition has been OFF for at least 120 seconds. Failure to do so may result in component damage.
  1. Ignition OFF for 120 seconds, disconnect the harness connector at the headlamp switch.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the indicator control circuit terminal 16 and ground.
    • If the test lamp illuminates, test the indicator control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the VDAAW module.
  3. Install a 3-amp fused jumper between the indicator control circuit terminal 16 and B+. Verify that the scan tool Mode LED parameter is ON.
    • If not the specified value, test the indicator control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the VDAAW module.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the headlamp switch.
