Steering Column Assembly: Disassembly

  1. With steering wheel unlocked and circlip and support removed, pull intermediate and steering shaft down and out of column tube. Remove universal joint set screw and disconnect intermediate shaft from steering shaft with a mallet.
  2. If steering shaft has 3 bearings, use a pipe to remove only the center bearing (if necessary). Replacement bearings are not available. Drive upper steering shaft from tube.
