Triggering Unit - Reading Out And Writing In Data

NOTE: Voltage drop
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester II 9818  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in PIWIS Tester II 9818  .

  1. PIWIS Tester II 9818  must be connected to the vehicle and ignition switched on.
  2. Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
  3. Move from vehicle type to the list of control units. Locking is only possible after an automatic control unit search.
  4. Select Posip  and Maintenance/repairs  with the cursor keys and press [F12] to confirm your selection.
  5. Select Control unit replacement  with the cursor keys and press [F12] to confirm your selection.
  6. Select Read data  (coding) with the cursor keys and press [F12] to confirm your selection.
  7. The message Data was read out  appears on the Porsche System Tester screen. Press [F12] to continue.
  8. Switch off ignition and replace control unit.
  9. Switch on ignition. Switch to the Special functions  menu and perform the vehicle handover  using the [F8] key.
  10. In the Special functions  menu, select Erase all fault memories  and press [F12] to continue. Compare the vehicle identification number  and confirm.
  11. Select Posip -Control unit replacement  using the cursor keys. Following control unit replacement, the data that was read out (see Step  6) is loaded when you select Write data  in the menu. Press [F12] to continue.
  12. The System Tester displays the message Data has been written  . Press [F12] to continue.
  13. Using the Overview  menu, switch from vehicle type to the list of control units. Locking is only possible after an automatic control unit search.
  14. When the automatic control unit search is complete, select the DME  control unit and Coding/adaptation  .
  15. Select the menu DME/DFI: Vehicle data  , compare the vehicle variant, vehicle equipment, Exclusive option No., etc. with the actual vehicle and change these to suit the vehicle if necessary.
  16. Then select the Posip  control unit and Maintenance/repairs  and press [F12] to confirm your selection.

    Locking is only possible after an automatic control unit search. To lock the triggering unit  :

  17. Switch to the Posip - Lock  menu by pressing [F12].
  18. Select the country-specific Equipment  and press [F12] to confirm your selection.
  19. Start the Locking  process by pressing [F8].
  20. Follow the instructions on the Tester.
  21. Exit the menu, carry out a test drive, and read out the fault memory.
