INFORMATION
The gateway was rendered inoperabable in some vehicles while performing the WA55 and WA68 campaigns. According to current knowledge the gateway problems were caused by not following the campaign exactly as instructed.
- If a re-programming is aborted in any way, another programming should be possible as long as the ignition was not switched off.
- If the programming cannot be restarted please use the following workaround below to bring the Gateway CU back to life.
- Reference the "Panamera External Power Supply Connections" ATI bulletin number 1002 when performing any programming.
- Always check the vehicle data stored in "Maintenance of Vehicle Data" against the values listed in PPN/PIWIS "Vehicle Information" before programming. If fault codes are set after programming that cannot be erased, double check the Vehicle Data. Please reference the "Control Unit Coding And Online Teaching Functions With PIWIS Tester II" ATI bulletin number 1003 for procedure.
- If the below workaround does not help, there is no other solution to replace the Gateway CU.
WORK PROCEDURE
Restoring the Gateway control unit:
- Switch off the ignition.
- End the diagnosis application of the PIWIS Tester "ESC".
- Remove the Gateway control unit from the disabled vehicle.
- Plug in a Gateway control unit from a well working (good) vehicle.
- Start the diagnosis application of the PIWIS Tester again.
- Start the complete control unit search ">> (F12)" See Figure 1.
- After control unit search do not switch off the ignition and remove the Gateway control unit which was transferred from a well working vehicle.
- Keep ignition on. Fit the original Gateway control unit which is being restored.
- Enter the additional menu in PIWIS Tester: "F7".
- Choose function "Campaign" See Figure 2.
- Put in campaign number WA55b or WA68b accordingly. Go on with >>(F12). See Figure 3.
- Start programming with F8. See Figure 4 and 5.
- After successfully performed programming the necessary reworks according to TI need to be performed.
- Refit the well working Gateway control unit to the well working vehicle.
- On the well working vehicle the Gateway Actual/specified configuration must be performed. Therefore please choose the menu "maintenance/repairs". See Figure 6.
- Choose Actual/specified configuration, confirm with >> and take over the actual configuration by pressing F8 button. See Figure 7.
