Programming Data Update On Central Computer

NOTE: Voltage drop 
  • Irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming 

    → Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.

    → Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.

    → Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

Different text may be displayed with higher software versions.

  1. Open red Engineering menu in the central computer.
    1. 1.1 Press rotary/push knob  and Media  for 4 seconds on the front display and operator control unit.

      First press rotary/push knob  and then Media  .

    2. 1.2 Select Software download  .
  2. Read and follow the instructions and information on the central computer.
  3. Insert SD card or USB stick containing the vehicle-specific software data into the central computer.
  4. Select and activate SD1  or - if available - USB  .

    Info:  No update is possible with SD2  .

  5. Select Standard  .

  7. Press Start update  again in the next menu.

  8. The central computer restarts and the screen turns black. The individual components and modules are then updated.

    Restarting

  9. The update progress  is shown as a percentage for each module.

    The update takes approx. 30 min.

    The central computer is restarted several times during the update.

    The display and operator control unit screen remains black for up to 3 minutes while restarting.

  10. If there is no MOST  ring installed in the vehicle, Continue update must be selected.

  11. After the update, the updated components will be marked OK. Press Continue.

  13. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it.
  14. Select the vehicle type if necessary.
  15. Select the PCM control unit in the overview. Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  16. Select Maintenance/repairs  . Press F12 to continue.
  17. Select Update confirmation  . Press F8 to continue.
  18. The backup documentation process is performed.
  19. The system is restarted.

    After the restart, the update is finished.

  20. Switch back to the overview.
  21. Select Coding/programming  . Press F12 to continue.
  22. Select Automatic coding  . Press F8 to start.
  23. Follow the instructions on the Tester.
  24. Remove SD card or USB stick from the central computer.
  25. Read out all fault memories  and erase them if necessary.
  26. Exit the diagnostic application. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
  27. Perform function test on central computer.
