Programming Central Computer Data Update
NOTIFICATION
Voltage drop
- Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
- Risk of damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Coding in the control unit is aborted
- Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming
- Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
- Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery.
Information
Different text may be displayed with higher software versions.
- Insert SD card or USB stick containing the vehicle-specific software data in the PCM.
- Press the CAR and MEDIA buttons on the PCM for 3 seconds.
- The SWDL
menu appears. Select the SWDL/Software update
menu by pressing the left rotary knob.
- SD1
or - if available - USB
must be selected and activated.
Info: No update is possible with SD2.
- Select Standard.
- Press Start update.
- Select Start update
again in the next menu.
- The PCM starts again and the screen is black. The individual components and/or modules are then updated.
- The update progress
is shown as a percentage for each module.
Time required for the update: approx. 30 min.
The PCM is restarted several times during the update.
The PCM screen remains black for up to 3 minutes while restarting.
- If there is no MOST ring
installed in the vehicle, Continue update
must be selected.
- After the update, the updated components will be marked OK.
Press Continue.
- Select Start backup documentation.
- Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it.
- Select the vehicle type if required.
- Select the PCM control unit in the overview. Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
- Maintenance/repairs must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
- Update confirmation must be selected. Press F8 to continue.
- The backup documentation process is performed.
- The system is rebooted.
After the restart, the update is finished.
- Switch back to the overview.
- Switch to Coding/programming and select Automatic coding. Then press F12.
- Follow the instructions on the Tester.
- Remove SD card or USB stick from the PCM.
- Read out all fault memories and erase them if necessary.
- Exit the diagnostic application. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
- Perform a function test on the PCM.
