Float Level Adjustment
Adjust float level with carburetor installed on car. Allow engine to idle, switch off ignition without touching accelerator. Remove air cleaner, and remove fuel hose from carburetor. This MUST BE done to prevent fuel pump from filling float chamber when cover is removed. Remove float chamber cover. Measure float level with caliper gauge. Distance between top of float chamber and fuel level should be 0.80" ± 0.04" (21 ± 1 mm). If engine, is hard starting when warm, lower float level to 0.87" (22 mm). Float level is raised by filing down fiber washer under needle valve; to lower it add an extra washer. After making adjustment recheck level to be sure required result is obtained.
