Fuel Pump Delivery Pressure

Turn ignition on. Pinch off fuel return line, and check line pressure (do not allow pressure to rise above 87 psi (6.1 kg/cm² ). When line is plugged, there should be an immediate rise in line pressure.
If line pressure does not increase, check for the following problems:
- Less than 11.5 volts across pump terminals.
- Obstructed fuel lines.
- Clogged fuel filter.
- Inoperative pressure reducing pump valve (replace pump if defective).
- Fuel filter installed backward.
  NOTE: If fuel filter has been installed backward, it must be replaced.
After checking fuel pump pressure, turn ignition off. Go to FUEL PUMP DELIVERY FLOW test procedure (do not disconnect pressure gauge).
