Cooling Fan Control Relay (9000 Series)

  1. For models with air conditioning, go to step 5).
  2. For models without air conditioning, remove relay from socket in panel behind glove box. Check that there is no continuity between terminals No. 30 (Yellow wire) and No. 87 (Green wire). Connect terminals No. 9 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Blue wire) to ground.
  3. Apply 12 volts to terminal No. 15 (Gray wire). Check that there is continuity between terminals No. 30 (Yellow wire) and No. 87 (Green wire).
  4. Leave power connected. After about 10 minutes, relay should open. Check that there is again no continuity between terminals No. 30 (Yellow wire) and No. 87 (Green wire).
  5. Models with air conditioning are equipped with 2 fan control relays. One relay controls high speed operation; the other, low speed. To test high speed relay, go to step 6). To test low speed relay, go to step 8).
  6. Remove relay from socket behind glove box. Check that there is no continuity between terminals No. 30 (Yellow/White wire) and No. 87 (Green/White and White wires).
  7. Connect terminal No. 5 (Blue/White wire) to ground. Connect 12 volts to terminal No. 4 (Gray wire). Check that there is continuity between terminals No. 30 (Yellow/White wire) and No. 87 (Green/White and White wires).
  8. Remove relay from socket in panel behind glove box. Check that there is no continuity between terminals No. 30 (Yellow wire) and No. 87 (Green wire). Connect terminals No. 9 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Blue wire) to ground.
  9. Apply 12 volts to terminal No. 15 (Gray wire). Check that there is continuity between terminals No. 30 (Yellow wire) and No. 87 (Green wire).
  10. Leave power connected. After about 10 minutes, relay should open. Check that there is again no continuity between terminals No. 30 (Yellow wire) and No. 87 (Green wire on socket).
