Positive Rectifier Diodes
- Connect negative terminal of ohmmeter or self-powered test light (40-volt maximum) to alternator B+ terminal. Measure resistance or continuity between terminal B+ and each diode stator terminal, one at a time, with stator leads disconnected. See Fig 1. Test light should glow oohmmeter should indicate low resistance when positive terminal of test light or ohmmeter is connected to each diode terminal.
- Reverse ohmmeter or test light connections, and repeat each measurement. Test light should not glow or ohmmeter should indicate high resistance. Replace rectifier assembly if any diode is defective.
