Engine Controls - Sensor Operating Range Charts - 3.0L V6: Introduction

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

NOTE: Unless stated otherwise in test procedure, perform all voltage tests with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with minimum 10-megohm input impedance.
INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR RESISTANCE (1)

Temperature - °F (°C) Ohms
-22 (-30) 20,000-30,000
14 (-10) 7000-11,400
68 (20) 2100-2900
104 (40) 1000-1300
140 (60) 565-670
176 (80) 295-365
194 (90) 240-260
(1) Measure voltage between sensor terminals.
HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) VOLTAGE

Condition Volts
Lean 0-0.4
Rich 0.6-1.0
THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR RESISTANCE

Position Ohms
Total Resistance (1) 1600-2400
Idle Position (2) 800-1200
Wide Open Throttle (2) 2000-3000
(1) Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 and 2.
(2) Measure resistance between terminals No. 2 and 3.
VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS) VOLTAGE (1)

Application Volts
9000 Series (1) About 0.6
(1) Rotate front wheels with engine. Voltage should increase with increasing wheel RPM.
