Brake Switch

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Remove underdash panel on left side to gain access to brake switch, located at top of brake pedal lever. Connect a voltmeter between brake switch terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Gray wire) and a good known ground. Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, check for open circuit between terminal No. 2 and brake switch fuse (No. 17, 10 amp).
  2. Disconnect brake switch connector. Connect an ohmmeter between brake switch terminals No. 1 (Violet wire) and No. 2 (Yellow/Gray wire). With brake pedal released, resistance should be infinite. With brake pedal depressed, resistance should be zero ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace brake switch.
