TIP/OFF Function Check

  1. Ensure no voltage is present at breakout box pins No. 1, 2, and 3 when TIP button is held in depressed position. If voltage is present, check wiring for a short to voltage. If voltage is not present, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect cruise control switch. Put cruise control switch in OFF position. Measure resistance between cruise control switch terminal No. 4 and connector terminals No. 1, 2, and 3. If any measurement is less than one ohm, replace switch. If any measurement is greater than one ohm, go to next step.
  3. Check for voltage between ground and cruise control switch connector terminals No. 1, 2, and 3. If voltage is present, check wiring for short circuit to voltage. If voltage is not present and system is still defective, replace control module.
