Programming, Anti-Theft Protection: General

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The anti-theft protection function is controlled by TWICE, which is basically programmed by the control module supplier. However, this may not satisfy the requirements of all markets (countries) and some additional programming can therefore be necessary during manufacture, so-called "Factory Programming  ".

When the car has been delivered to a market, it may be necessary to replace the TWICE control module or make other changes to the system. This calls for the possibility to carry out so-called "After Market Programming  ".
