Front Hub Assembly: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Clean the contact surfaces and install the brake shield and the hub with 3 bolts. Make sure that the cable to the wheel sensor fits into position upwards/forwards. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Insert the drive shaft into the hub.
NOTE: Always install a NEW hub driveshaft nut if it has been removed because the clamping force of the lock indentations will be reduced if the old one is reinstalled.
  3. Install the front hub assembly nut and pull the shaft to the correct position with the nut.
NOTE: Check that the spindle on the ball joint protrudes above the steering knuckle attachment.
  4. Remove the wedge and install the suspension arm onto the steering knuckle. Tighten ball joint bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Clean the brake disc surfaces thoroughly. Install the brake rotor. See FRONT BRAKE ROTOR .
  6. Connect the wheel sensor and install the connector into the holder.
  7. Install the wheel. The center emblem on aluminum wheels must be removed before the wheel is installed. Tighten lug bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Lower the car so that the wheel rests on the floor.
  9. Tighten the front hub assembly nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Install the center emblem.
  11. Lower the car and depress the brake pedal to press out the brake caliper pistons.
